3Sports can report that Black Stars assistant coach George Boateng has left his punditry position at beIN Sports.
This comes after it was revealed that the former Aston Villa U-23 coach would be working with beIN to broadcast the World Cup.
With Ghana set to participate in the Mundial, the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association reveal to 3Sports that Boateng won’t join the punditry team.
“It’s not possible, anywhere in the world there are long-term contracts. George Boateng has had a running contract with beIN Sports for years. But for this World Cup, there will be an exception.”
The 47-year-old coach signed a contract with beIN Sports in 2014 when he was manager of Malaysian side Kelantan FA. However, it is expected that he will now fully focus on the Black Stars.
Ghana will be making a fourth appearance at the World Cup and has been placed in Group H alongside Uruguay, Portugal, and South Korea.
